Quality Chekd’s award program recognizes its member dairies that go above and beyond their peers in a variety of categories. Recipients gain prestige within the organization and their service areas, highlighting their achievements in production, quality, marketing and customer service. Our major awards, The Irving B. Weber Award and the Production Excellence Award, are given to the top plants who achieve the highest ranking in various categories and are recognized by their peers as the ‘BEST OF THE BEST” within our organization.

The Irving B. Weber Award
Named after our first board president the Irving B. Weber Award recognizes top three trademark member dairy plants that have earned the highest annual scores from Quality Chekd in the areas of business leadership, quality, sustainability, customer/consumer satisfaction, employee safety and personnel development.
The Quality Chekd Production Excellence Awards
The Production Excellence Awards recognize the best single production plant within the organization in each of three categories: fluid milk, cultured products and ice cream. This is open to all plants within the Quality Chekd organization. These awards highlight superior performance in finished product quality, plant appearance, cleanliness, efficiency, overall management leadership, and process control. Criteria includes laboratory test scores, and evaluation of a plant’s process systems for assuring product quality.
Merit Of Excellence Awards
These awards recognize those plants which have achieved outstanding product quality performance based on product testing results as conducted per the Quality Chekd Compliance Program by the Mérieux NutriSciences laboratory throughout the year.
Plant Assessment Awards
This award recognizes member plants achieving 95 percent or higher on their 3rd party annual plant audit.
Nog-Off Contest Award
Traditional Eggnog and Low Fat Eggnog are submitted annually by participants and presented to panelists from Merieux NutriSciences Laboratory, Quality Chekd, and QCS Purchasing staff for evaluation. Scoring of the eggnog products is based strictly on sensory perception of flavor, body and appearance and an award is granted to the plant producing the highest scored product in each category. QCS/Allied and QCD members are invited to participate in this event.
Orange Juice Contest
Orange Juice samples are submitted annually by participants and are judged by a panel of USDA lab personnel skilled in the sensory evaluation of juice products. Scoring is based on the USDA’s Standards for Grades of Orange Juice, “from concentrate.” The top three samples are ranked based on the average flavor point score and by the panel consensus. The top three winners are recognized at the annual QCS Leadership Conference.
World Dairy Expo Participation and Recognition
Quality Chekd/QCSPurchasing members are encouraged to participate in the annual World Dairy Expo (WDE) Product Judging. This event provides members with the opportunity to submit products from a number of categories and to be benchmarked against not only peers within the Quality Chekd organization, but also against dairy competitors nationwide. The WDE winners are notified and awards are issued by the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association. Those Quality Chekd/QCSPurchasing members who rank amongst the top three awards in each product category are recognized for this achievement at the annual QCS Leadership Conference.
