Overview

We started as Gillette Dairy in 1917. Hiland-Robert's has since grown to one of the largest ice cream manufacturing facilities in the Midwest. Located on 13 acres in Norfolk, Nebraska, our Hiland-Robert's plant was originally built in 1959 with continuing plant investment upgrades annually. For many years our plant included a milk bottling and cottage cheese operation, which we converted to additional ice cream production capacity in 1994. Today, our plant focuses exclusively on ice cream & frozen desserts, producing up to 12 million gallons a year with over 100+ flavors of Premium 3 gallon Dip Shoppe ice cream to suit almost any taste!

After major construction upgrades in the mid-1990's, our present plant covers 102,200 square feet with almost 30,000 square feet of freezer storage. A unique feature is our state-of-the-art, high-rise storage freezer. Towering nearly 100 feet, our seven-story high-rise storage freezer holds almost a million gallons of ice cream! AFter ice cream is put into containers and quick frozen to rock-hard, high quality consistency, it is loaded onto pallets and moved into our freezer. Products are stored and retrieved by a single warehouse operator working from the heated cab of a computerized crane that runs the length of the warehouse, selecting products from freezer storage slots.

Robert's Dairy Co., Omaha, NE, owns Hiland-Robert's Ice Cream Co. Our combined total company sales of fresh dairy, ice cream & novelties is over $300 million annually. Our quality Hiland-Roberts Ice Cream sales stretch coast to coast, border to border in the U.S., North into Canada, South into Mexico and out into the Caribbean & Puerto Rico, as well!
